Schufa historical study finds no Nazi misuse of credit data
An independent historical investigation commissioned by Schufa has found no evidence that the credit agency's data archives were misused by the National Socialist regime between 1933 and 1945.
Conducted by the history agency D. I. E., the study examined the company's history from its founding in 1927 through 1945. While the data itself was not misappropriated for Nazi purposes, the report highlights that the agency's Jewish founders—brothers Kurt and Walter Gerhard Meyer, along with Robert Kauffmann—were systematically forced out of their roles and compelled to emigrate following the Nazi seizure of power. Additionally, Jewish members of the administrative committee for the organization, then known as the 'Schutzgemeinschaft für Absatzfinanzierung und Kreditsicherung', also lost their positions during 1933.
