Sciacca Court Sentences Men for Fraud Attempt and Street Vendor Extortion

The Sciacca court issued an immediate judgment against 35‑year‑old Roberto Oglialoro of Catania for an attempted aggravated fraud targeting an elderly resident. The suspect posed as a Carabinieri officer, demanded cash and gold, and was arrested after the victim alerted authorities; he remains in custody pending a possible plea deal.

In a separate case, a 45‑year‑old man from Sciacca was convicted of threatening a Moroccan street vendor with a baton and demanding €500 to allow the vendor to continue operating. The court sentenced him to 11 months in prison, imposed a €400 fine, ordered restitution of damages and legal costs, and closed the first‑instance proceedings.
