France academic and cultural sector announces new research grants and initiatives

Various academic and cultural initiatives are being launched across France, focusing on research funding, scientific festivals, and specialized seminars.

The University of Tours has secured over 6 million euros in funding, including 32 projects accepted by the Agence nationale de la recherche (ANR). Notably, researcher Erica Ciccarella received 1.5 million euros from the European Research Council for her project, LaughtHER, which examines humor through a gendered lens in the modern era.

Other educational opportunities include the Fondation de Wendel’s research grants for Master 2 and doctoral students in history and economics, and EFELIA Côte d’Azur’s mobility grants for students specializing in Artificial Intelligence.

Cultural and scientific events include the Festival des Sciences et des Arts at Aix Marseille Université, which explores the relationship between humans and animals, and a symposium at Sciences Po regarding the representation of erotic works in museums.
