Academic and cultural events in France

France is hosting a variety of academic, cultural, and environmental events scheduled for late 2026.

Academic programming includes a festival at Aix-Marseille Université exploring human-animal relationships through science and art, a Sciences Po colloquium in Paris regarding the display of erotic works in museums, and a legal seminar at Nantes Université concerning Western identity and law. Research activities also include a study day on women and warfare in Platonic Greece.

Recent developments highlight significant research funding and new grants. The University of Tours has secured over 6 million euros, with 32 projects accepted by the Agence nationale de la recherche (ANR). Among these, researcher Erica Ciccarella received 1.5 million euros from the European Research Council for ‘LaughtHER’, a project examining humor through a gendered lens. Additionally, the Fondation de Wendel is offering research grants for Master 2 and doctoral students in history and economics, while EFELIA Côte d’Azur has introduced mobility grants for students specializing in Artificial Intelligence.

Environmental and social initiatives feature a gala dinner by Association SOS Grand Bleu to support cetacean protection and a podcast series from the University of Montpellier addressing green education in the context of climate change. Additionally, English language reinforcement courses are being offered at the Saint Jean d'Angely Campus in Nice.
