Scientific findings on onion sprouts and tear patterns
Scientific research clarifies common misconceptions regarding food safety and human biology. While many consumers discard onions once green sprouts appear, experts note that unlike potatoes, onions do not produce toxic glycoalkaloids. While sprouting potatoes can lead to gastrointestinal issues due to nitrogenous compounds, onions remain safe to consume even when germinated.
Additionally, microscopic analysis reveals that human tears are not uniform. They are categorized into three types based on function: basal tears, which constantly lubricate and protect the cornea; reflex tears, which respond to external irritants; and emotional tears. Under a microscope, these tears exhibit unique, repeating patterns and sediment structures.
