Scientific institutions in Italy host urban nature and biotech events

Various scientific and environmental initiatives are scheduled for early October 2026 in Italy, focusing on urban biodiversity and biotechnology.

MUSE in Trento will participate in the sixth edition of the Autumnus food and wine festival with the theme ‘La città che respira’ (The breathing city). From October 8 to 11, the museum will host a scientific program in Piazza Duomo, including a black-and-white photography exhibition titled ‘Il giardino delle erbacce’ by Rocco Casaluci. The exhibition highlights spontaneous flora in urban spaces and uses thematic flowerbeds to demonstrate how native and non-native species impact local ecosystems.

In Naples, Città della Scienza will host events on October 3 and 4, coinciding with European Biotech Week and the tenth edition of the WWF Urban Nature festival. The program includes hands-on biological experiments, such as DNA extraction led by researchers from the University of Naples Federico II, and ethnobotanical tours guided by WWF biologists to explore Mediterranean plants and their traditional uses.
