Scientific research and AI advancements explore limits of human lifespan

New research and technological advancements are reshaping the scientific understanding of human longevity. A study published in npj Aging, led by computational biologist Dmitrii Kriukov, suggests that even in a hypothetical world free of age-related diseases, random DNA mutations may impose a biological ceiling on the human lifespan, estimating a potential median range between 146 and 194 years.

Simultaneously, the field is integrating artificial intelligence to accelerate longevity research. A collaboration between Insilico Medicine and Human Longevity aims to develop the first industry-standard foundation model for longevity science. These AI models analyze vast biological datasets—including the genome, proteome, and metabolome—to identify signatures of aging. This approach seeks to refine biological clocks by analyzing epigenetic methylation patterns, moving medicine from a reactive model toward proactive intervention based on an individual's biological trajectory.
