Scottland FC eliminated from CAF Champions League by Petro de Luanda
Zimbabwean champions Scottland FC have been knocked out of the CAF Champions League following a 3-0 defeat to Angola’s Petro de Luanda in the second leg of their tie. Despite holding a 2-0 advantage from the first leg in Harare, Scottland surrendered the lead, losing 3-2 on aggregate.
The defeat has placed Scottland FC coach Norman Mapeza under scrutiny regarding his tactical decisions and game management. Mapeza attributed the exit to the club's lack of continental experience, noting that Petro de Luanda is a long-standing participant in the competition.
Notably, Petro de Luanda’s victory followed the recent appointment of Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos, who had only 48 hours to prepare for the decisive match. With their continental campaign ended, Scottland FC will now refocus on domestic football.
