Scream actors address long-standing character death mystery

During a 30th-anniversary reunion panel for the horror film "Scream" at the Midsummer Scream convention in Long Beach, California, actors Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich addressed long-standing fan theories regarding the death of the character Tatum Riley.

Ulrich stated that even screenwriter Kevin Williamson does not know which of the two killers was responsible for the slaying, noting, "To be honest, not even [screenwriter] Kevin Williamson knows who killed [Tatum]. And he wrote the damn thing." While Lillard suggested his character, Stu Macher, might have been responsible because the character refused to go to prom, the actors confirmed they never officially discussed the detail during production.

The actors also shared insights into the difficulty of filming the movie's final 42-minute sequence, which required 21 consecutive night shoots.
