Södertälje Court Sentences Two to Life for Execution-Style Murder

A man and a woman in their 30s have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Södertälje District Court for a fatal shooting in Fornhöjden in October 2025. The court described the crime as a well-planned execution targeting individuals in a vehicle who had no opportunity to defend themselves.

The incident resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man and left another person injured. Evidence presented during the trial indicated that the defendants, identified as Joel Engback and Isabell Eriksson, were recruited through the encrypted messaging app Signal to carry out the attack. The court determined that the motive was economic and linked to criminal network conflicts.

Notably, the female defendant was scheduled to begin serving a three-year prison sentence for a previous narcotics offense the day before the murder occurred, but she failed to report to authorities. Both individuals intend to appeal the verdict.
