Wildfires burn across British Columbia near Golden and Revelstoke

Multiple wildfires are burning across British Columbia, with the Sea Lion Mountain fire near Golden causing significant concern. Sparked by lightning, the Sea Lion Mountain blaze has scorched approximately 1,144 hectares. It is located in steep, difficult terrain between the fringes of Yoho and Banff national parks. The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has implemented area restrictions, and officials expect increased activity in the evenings due to wind and temperature shifts from nearby glaciers.

In the Revelstoke and Albert Canyon regions, firefighting crews have successfully extinguished several smaller fires, including those at East Twin Creek and near Canyon Hot Springs. However, one lightning-sparked fire near Albert Creek remains out of control, having grown to 71 hectares.

Additionally, in the northern Selkirk Mountains near Downie Arm, several fires have been reported. The Nightmare FSR fire has grown to 73 hectares and remains out of control, while the Gannet Creek fire has expanded to cover 122 hectares. Crews continue to monitor and manage these various incidents across the province.
