Sea Turtle Releases on Italy's Adriatic Coast
The marine turtle Ulisse, rescued from the Adriatic and rehabilitated at the Fondazione Cetacea centre in Riccione, was released back into the sea at Baia Flaminia beach in Pesaro. The event drew a crowd of locals and was followed by a charity breakfast whose proceeds support the foundation’s rescue work.
On 29 July, the foundation will release Nancy, an adult Caretta caretta recovered after becoming entangled in a drifting net off Cesenatico. The release will take place at the public beach at Viale Canova in Riccione, in front of the centre’s marine‑turtle recovery facility. The public is invited to attend the dawn release, enjoy a breakfast with the staff and visit the centre. The event is part of the “Non siamo isole” crowdfunding campaign that aims to raise €20,000 to fund the care of at least 20 turtles during the winter.
