SeABank launches sustainable finance framework
Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank) has announced its Sustainable Finance Framework (SFF), which received a Second-Party Opinion from S&P Global Ratings in September 2026. The framework is designed to govern the full lifecycle of funds through four pillars: use of proceeds, evaluation and selection processes, management of proceeds, and reporting.
Funding under this framework will support projects across 14 green categories, 7 blue categories, and 5 social objectives. The initiative aims to address environmental and social challenges in Vietnam, including emissions, water security, waste management, and pollution, while also supporting marine biodiversity and improving access to housing and finance for underserved communities.
The framework sets quantitative performance requirements, such as a minimum 20% improvement in energy savings, emission reduction, or water efficiency. SeABank reported that its outstanding green credit exceeded VND 4.1 trillion as of September 2026, representing an increase of over 150% since the end of 2025. The bank has mobilized nearly $1.1 billion from international institutions, including the IFC, AIIC, Norfund, and Proparco.
