SeABank warns of AI deepfake phone scams targeting Vietnamese customers

SeABank has issued a public alert urging its customers to be especially vigilant against phone calls that use AI‑generated deepfake technology. Fraudsters create realistic video or audio impersonations of relatives, bank staff, police or other officials, often claiming emergencies such as accidents, arrests, or account breaches to pressure victims into transferring money or providing security codes.

The bank advises customers to verify the identity of callers, watch for abnormal facial expressions, mismatched lip‑sync, short or choppy video, and any request for OTPs, remote‑control apps, or unusual links. Victims are urged to double‑check recipient details before any transfer and to avoid sharing personal authentication data.

SeABank’s guidance emphasizes that the core aim of these deepfake scams is rapid financial theft, and that recognizing the visual and behavioural anomalies can help prevent loss.
