Seafood Centre adopts electric refrigerated fleet in the Netherlands
Dutch seafood wholesaler Seafood Centre (Vis en Meer) is transitioning to a fully electric refrigerated fleet to serve municipal zero-emission zones across the Netherlands.
The company is utilizing Thermo King E-Series E-400-MAX and E-500 MAX refrigeration units integrated with Stellantis Citroën ë-Jumpy battery-electric vehicles. This setup employs “one-plug” technology, which draws power directly from the vehicle’s high-voltage battery via an electric power take-off (e-PTO). This method avoids the weight and space constraints of separate battery packs, helping to maximize vehicle payload and range.
This transition is part of Seafood Centre’s broader sustainability initiative, which includes an insulated headquarters operating without natural gas heating and the use of solar panels to offset energy consumption.
