Sean Sharaf knocks out Gable Steveson in 12 seconds at UFC 331
At UFC 331 in Los Angeles, Sean Sharaf secured a massive upset by knocking out Olympic wrestling gold medalist Gable Steveson in just 12 seconds. Sharaf, an underdog following two previous losses, landed a decisive left hook that ended the bout, marking one of the fastest knockouts in UFC heavyweight history.
The rapid finish sparked controversy when Steveson exited the Octagon before the official result was announced by Bruce Buffer. Jon Jones, who was present, took responsibility for the early exit, stating he moved Steveson to the back immediately to ensure his well-being. However, commentators like Daniel Cormier criticized the move as poor sportsmanship, calling Steveson an “ungrateful loser” for not staying to acknowledge the winner.
Steveson’s manager, Abe Kawa, defended his fighter, noting that even legendary champions have faced setbacks. Following the victory, UFC President Dana White awarded Sharaf a total of $100,000 in bonuses, including a $50,000 match from the organization and a $50,000 MobLand bonus.
