Search operations continue for missing persons in Venezuela and Spain
Search operations are underway in two separate incidents involving missing persons following heavy rainfall.
In Mérida, Venezuela, authorities have launched ‘Operación La Cueva 2026’ to locate Belkis Mora. She was swept away by the Chama River in the Libertador municipality on Friday, October 9, while attempting to cross a watercourse with her son. Rescue teams, including Civil Protection, firefighters, and local police, are conducting systematic searches along the riverbanks. Local officials noted that continuous rains have increased river levels and affected road conditions in the region.
In Granollers, Spain, emergency services continue to search for a 12-year-old boy named Rami, who disappeared on the morning of Sunday, October 4. The search follows a period of torrential rain that reportedly frightened the child, causing him to leave his home. Search teams, including the Underwater Special Actions Group (GRAESub), have been inspecting river courses such as the Valldoriolf and the confluence of the Mogent, Congost, and Besòs rivers. Despite intensive efforts involving police and volunteers, no new clues have been found.
