Volkswagen launches production of ID. Polo and Cupra Raval in Spain

On 4 June 2026 Volkswagen Group began series production of two compact electric models – the Volkswagen ID. Polo and the Cupra Raval – at the Seat plant in Martorell, near Barcelona. The launch was attended by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, the regional president of Navarra María Chivite, VW CEO Oliver Blume and other executives. Both cars are built on the new MEB Entry platform; the initial output uses the larger‑battery version, with lower‑cost variants scheduled for July and full delivery from September.

At the same time Volkswagen Navarra started series production of the Škoda Epiq, the first Škoda electric model manufactured in Spain, adding a third model to its Navarra line alongside the T‑Cross and Taigo. More than €3 billion has been invested in the Martorell transformation and over €2 million in worker training at Navarra. The ID. Polo is priced at just under €25 000, the Raval about €1 000 higher, and VW aims to sell several hundred thousand units annually, expanding the family with additional models such as the ID. Cross and the future ID. Every1 priced around €20 000. "The market for electric city cars in Europe will be four times larger after 2030," said Oliver Blume.
