Chicago Cubs defeat Seattle Mariners 19-2 to avoid series sweep
The Chicago Cubs snapped a three-game losing streak with a massive 19-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. The blowout was fueled by two grand slams from Ian Happ and Pedro Ramírez, alongside a home run from Pete Crow-Armstrong. Despite the win, Cubs starter Shota Imanaga had a difficult outing, lasting only part of three innings and allowing two runs before being pulled.
The series featured high drama in the preceding games. On Saturday, the Mariners secured a 5-4 walk-off win driven by a two-run home run from Randy Arozarena. Arozarena also made history by hitting leadoff home runs in consecutive games. The Saturday game also marked the Major League debut of Mariners top prospect Kade Anderson.
With the series conclusion, the Cubs maintain a 4.5-game lead in the NL wild card race, while the Mariners remain in contention for a wild-card spot in the AL West.
