Seattle Mariners promote top prospect Kade Anderson to MLB
The Seattle Mariners are promoting top pitching prospect Kade Anderson to the Major Leagues. The 22-year-old left-hander is scheduled to make his professional debut this Saturday against the Chicago Cubs at T-Mobile Park.
Anderson, the third overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft out of LSU, has dominated the minor leagues. He is being promoted directly from Double-A Arkansas, bypassing Triple-A entirely. During his 18 starts with the Arkansas Travelers, Anderson posted a 10-1 record with a 1.06 ERA, recording 135 strikeouts and only 13 walks in 93.1 innings.
Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto has indicated that Anderson will be utilized as a starter rather than in the bullpen. The promotion comes at a critical time for Seattle as the team seeks to bolster its rotation for a postseason push, following the trade of Luis Castillo and shoulder soreness issues for pitcher Bryan Woo.
