Two men parachute from Seattle Space Needle, police search
Two unidentified men purchased tickets and entered Seattle’s Space Needle at about 8:50 p.m. on Friday. Surveillance shows them on the observation deck, entering a restroom, emerging with helmets, scaling the glass barrier and jumping from the 605‑foot structure around 9:30 p.m. with parachutes, one performing a backflip.
The Seattle Police Department received the report at 9:21 p.m., has opened an investigation and is searching for the jumpers, who face trespassing charges. The men have not been identified and are described as white, late‑20s. Security staff could not determine where they landed; witnesses reported one landing on the roof of the Hyatt hotel on 5th Avenue and another near the Seattle Center during a food festival.
Space Needle officials confirmed the illegal incident, are reviewing security footage and cooperating with police. No injuries have been reported, and authorities have not announced any arrests.
