Seattle Sounders to acquire Dejan Joveljic from Sporting KC

The Seattle Sounders are finalizing a deal to acquire forward Dejan Joveljic from Sporting KC for a reported $6 million cash transfer. Joveljic, a 27-year-old designated player, is expected to serve as a marquee forward for Seattle as they look to improve their standing following injuries and underperformance.

Sporting KC will receive the $6 million fee and reportedly convert the maximum amount of $3 million into General Allocation Money (GAM). The sale leaves Sporting KC without its leading scorer but opens a second designated player slot. The club remains active in the transfer market, having recently bought out midfielder Manu Garcia and previously spending $18 million on winger Andre Luiz.

Joveljic has been highly productive in MLS, notably scoring 21 goals and eight assists for the LA Galaxy in 2024 before moving to Kansas City. During his year and a half with Sporting KC, he recorded 26 goals in 52 appearances.
