Sebrae methodology achieves 90% repayment rate in credit cooperatives

Sebrae’s ‘Assisted Credit’ methodology has helped micro and small businesses achieve a 90% repayment rate within Brazil’s credit cooperative system. The approach utilizes the Micro and Small Business Guarantee Fund (Fampe) to complement guarantees and reduce default risks.

The methodology operates in three distinct stages: pre-credit planning involving financial diagnostics and debt capacity analysis; credit contracting, which provides guidance on financing lines and rates; and post-credit monitoring to track how funds are applied and ensure healthy cash flow.

Valdir Oliveira, Sebrae National Manager of Capitalization and Financial Services, stated that the goal is to ensure credit acts as a lever for growth rather than a source of debt. The model will be presented at Concred 2026, a major global credit cooperative event scheduled for August 26.
