Second Amendment ruling allows suppressor purchases without registration

A significant legal and political shift regarding Second Amendment rights has occurred, marking the first time since the presidency of Franklin Delano Roosevelt that Americans have been able to purchase suppressors without registration.

According to Gun Owners of America (GOA) Federal Affairs Director Aidan Johnston, the change followed a six-month period of “top secret” behind-the-scenes lobbying intended to prevent opposition from reacting to legislative plans. The effort focused on the National Firearms Act, which previously imposed a $200 tax on items such as silencers, short-barreled rifles, and machine guns.

The implementation of this ruling follows the Trump administration's decision to abide by a consequential judicial decision, which was finalized during a transaction at a Texas gun store involving a state lawmaker, a congressional candidate, and officials from the GOA.
