Secunderabad armoury theft: Four arrested after military weapons heist
Four suspects have been arrested following the theft of military weapons and ammunition from the Madras Regiment armoury in the Secunderabad Cantonment. The theft was discovered on August 31, when personnel found the armoury door open and storage box locks broken.
Stolen items included several firearms—such as AK-203 assault rifles, an INSAS rifle, and seven pistols—along with ammunition, magazines, and night vision binoculars. A coordinated operation involving Military Intelligence and the Telangana Police Task Force led to the arrests.
Investigators suspect a retired Army officer may have orchestrated the heist due to a personal grudge against a former commanding officer. One of the detainees is reportedly an army person. A significant portion of the stolen arsenal has been recovered in the Nagarkurnool district, and authorities are currently verifying the recovered items against official inventory records.
