Securitize debuts on Wall Street and tokenizes its own shares

Token‑finance platform Securitize, founded in 2017 by former Telefónica executive Carlos Domingo, completed a SPAC merger with Cantor Equity Partners II and began trading on Wall Street under the ticker SECZ. The listing, valued at about $1.25 billion, marks the first Spanish unicorn to list in the United States and the first token‑specialist to go public.

On its debut day the shares surged above the $10 reference price, reaching a high of $13.70. In a parallel move, Securitize transferred roughly $295 million of its own stock to public blockchains, initially Solana and Avalanche, becoming the first firm to issue legally‑owned, tokenised shares at the moment of listing. The company now manages over $4 trillion in tokenised assets across more than 650 funds and provides infrastructure for major firms such as BlackRock and KKR.

Domingo said the dual‑listing and tokenisation demonstrate the firm’s belief that blockchain will become core infrastructure for capital markets, offering regulated, real‑ownership tokens to institutional investors.
