Security chiefs review law and order situation in Manipur

Top security officials from the Assam Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted high-level reviews of the security situation in Manipur on Tuesday.

Assam Rifles Director General Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera visited the Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, conducting operational reviews at the Somsai Garrison, Tusom Company Operating Base, and Chassad Garrison. The visit aimed to evaluate readiness and strengthen the security grid in response to the prevailing regional scenario. Lakhera emphasized the need for continuous vigilance, effective area domination, and improved coordination with civil authorities.

Simultaneously, CRPF Director General G. P. Singh held meetings in Imphal to assess the state's law and order status. Singh met with Lieutenant General Lakhera to discuss inter-force synergy and joint operational readiness. The leaders established a roadmap intended to sustain peace and public order across the state.

In related developments, the CRPF Quick Action Team, CoBRA, and Manipur police recently arrested 17 suspected militants from two Kuki outfits. The individuals are alleged to have impersonated registered cadres under the 2008 Suspension of Operations agreement.
