Security cooperation and seizures bolster counter-terrorism efforts in Africa
In Burkina Faso, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has transferred a significant cache of seized materials to the nation's combatant forces to aid in counter-terrorism efforts. The equipment, intercepted by the Bobo-Dioulasso Customs Mobile Brigade, includes 2,013 explosive sticks, 3,284 electric detonators, 47 rolls of detonating cord, 107 Starlink devices, and various other supplies such as fuel and safety gear. Officials emphasized that the seizure disrupts criminal networks that rely on the circulation of prohibited products.
In Senegal, the United States has provided logistical support to the Senegalese National Gendarmerie to bolster regional security. The donation consists of twelve motorcycles, four all-terrain quads, and a substantial stock of spare parts. This equipment is intended to improve the mobility of units operating in rural and border areas, supporting efforts to monitor frontiers and combat terrorist networks and criminal activities.
