Security Essen 2026 showcases new security and screening technologies

The Security Essen trade fair is taking place in Essen, Germany, from September 22 to 25, 2026. The event features 519 exhibitors from 41 countries showcasing solutions in areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, and critical infrastructure protection.

At the expo, Rohde & Schwarz is introducing the QPS Walk500, a compact walk-through security scanner designed for high-volume venues. Utilizing millimetre-wave technology and AI-driven algorithms, the scanner can detect metals, plastics, liquids, and organic substances. The system is engineered to allow continuous movement through checkpoints without requiring visitors to remove outerwear, supporting a throughput of up to 750 people per hour.

The 2026 event also introduces the Blaulichtforum, a new forum bringing together emergency services, civil protection, and the security industry to discuss how evolving threats and new technologies impact safety and hazard prevention. Additionally, the Euro Defence Expo is running parallel to the main fair, creating intersections between civilian security and defense.
