Security and defense technology expos in Essen

The Security Essen trade fair and the inaugural Euro Defence Expo (Eudex) have launched in Essen, Germany, serving as a major international hub for defense and civil security technologies. The events have attracted professional visitors from 89 countries and exhibitors from over 40 nations.

Security Essen continues to highlight innovations in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, and critical infrastructure protection, such as Rohde & Schwarz’s QPS Walk500 millimetre-wave security scanner. Parallel to the main fair, Eudex focuses on military and civil cooperation, showcasing land force equipment, drone systems, and hazard detection sensors.

Notable technological displays include Hybrid Aerospace’s ‘Greif’ drone, which utilizes a mechanical claw to capture unauthorized drones without debris to allow for forensic analysis. Additionally, Spanish company GMS Plesium is presenting specialized weaponry mounting systems and track recovery solutions for armored vehicles.

The Eudex International Diplomatic Forum has underscored the event’s strategic importance, bringing together high-ranking military and diplomatic representatives from nations including Ukraine, Canada, Turkey, Senegal, and Jordan to discuss European security cooperation. This aligns with the ongoing work of the Joint Air Power Competence Centre (JAPCC), where NATO officials are discussing the integration of technological advancement with strategic planning.
