Tucumán man kills autistic son and commits suicide

A tragic case of filicide and suicide has occurred in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina. Oscar Mauricio Sosa, 38, killed his 7-year-old son, Ignacio Tadeo Sosa, before taking his own life. The victims were discovered by the man's adult children after he sent them a message requesting their presence at the home.

According to Prosecutor Carlos Sale, a handwritten note left at the scene revealed that Sosa administered a heavy dose of medication to the child, who had severe autism, to prevent him from feeling pain before the fatal act. The note expressed Sosa's fear that no one would be able to care for the child following his own imminent absence. Investigators noted that Sosa was serving house arrest for a case in Córdoba and had recently been notified that his house arrest might be revoked, a factor believed to have triggered the tragedy.

Family members reported that Sosa was facing extreme economic and emotional distress, struggling to provide sole care for his son while unemployed. The investigation is being handled by the Homicide Unit and the Scientific Investigation Team (ECIF).
