Security forces conduct major drug seizures and arrests in Algeria and Niger

Security forces in Algeria and Niger have conducted significant anti-drug operations. In Algeria, detachments of the People's National Army in the Tamanrasset military sector arrested three individuals and seized 31 kilograms of cocaine. The narcotics were found concealed within a passenger vehicle being transported on a semi-trailer truck.

In Niger, the Office Central de Répression du Trafic Illicite des Stupéfiants (OCRTIS) conducted its seventh edition of Operation Tamisée in Niamey. The multi-phase operation included roadside testing of drivers and patrols along riverbanks. Out of 182 drivers tested, 25 tested positive for substances including cannabis, tramadol, ecstasy, morphine, and amphetamines. The operation resulted in the apprehension of 306 individuals, with 49 transferred to OCRTIS for drug-related offenses.
