Security forces in the Philippines are mobilizing to protect the first Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections.
The 603rd Infantry Brigade has deployed personnel to support a safe and credible electoral process. During a send-off ceremony in Sultan Kudarat, Acting Brigade Commander Colonel Glenn Loreto T. Caballero emphasized the military's responsibility to protect the integrity of the polls and ensure voters and election workers can operate without intimidation. The 105th Infantry Battalion also conducted a separate deployment ceremony in Sarangani Province.
In addition to military support, the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO-13) has deployed 887 police officers to augment security operations. Of these, 375 personnel will serve on Special Electoral Boards, 490 will be assigned to security duties, and 22 will serve as drivers. These officers will be stationed in key areas including Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and the Special Geographic Area. The deployment aims to maintain peace and order and respond to potential security concerns during the voting period.
