Sonora security operation kills ‘El Meny Carranza’ and detains four

A coordinated security operation involving the Mexican Navy, the Secretariat of Security and Protection of Citizens, and the Sonora State Prosecutor's Office resulted in the death of Francisco Manuel Romero Carranza, known as ‘El Meny Carranza’. Authorities identified Carranza as a high-priority target and a generator of violence in the region, allegedly serving as the second-in-command of the criminal group ‘Los Fantasmas’.

The confrontation took place near the town of San Antonio, where security forces were met with gunfire. During the operation, four individuals were detained. Among those apprehended were two suspects with outstanding arrest warrants related to the homicide of a high-ranking official in Imuris.

Authorities seized several items during the intervention, including seven firearms, 45 magazines, ammunition, four vehicles, three ballistic vests, and a quantity of marijuana.
