Security forces neutralize suspected terrorists in Kebbi State

A joint operation by the Kebbi State Police Command and the Nigerian Army resulted in the neutralization of suspected terrorist elements in the Gumki Forest, located in the Kangiwa area of Arewa Local Government Area.

The raid, conducted around 6:05 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, targeted a route frequently used by bandits and members of the Lakurawa group. Security forces reported engaging the elements with superior firepower, causing some to flee into the deep forest.

Recovered items from the scene include a PKT rifle with 174 rounds of live ammunition, an AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds, four motorcycles, two mobile phones, military camouflage uniforms, boots, and charms. While the exact number of terrorists killed was not disclosed, authorities stated the area remains relatively calm as clearance operations continue to disrupt criminal networks in the North-West region.
