Security forces seize drugs worth Rs 3.68 crore in Mizoram and Manipur

Security forces in the Indian states of Mizoram and Manipur have conducted multiple operations resulting in the seizure of methamphetamine and heroin valued at over Rs 3.68 crore. Five individuals were arrested during these actions.

In Mizoram, joint operations by the Assam Rifles and local police led to several recoveries. In the Saitual district, authorities seized 2.285 kg of methamphetamine tablets worth approximately Rs 1.83 crore. In the Champhai district, a separate operation at the Zokhawthar border recovered 28 grams of heroin valued at Rs 5.6 lakh. Additionally, a 20-year-old Myanmar national was apprehended in Champhai with 5.5 kg of methamphetamine tablets.

In Manipur, a combined team consisting of the State Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Assam Rifles arrested three suspects in the Senapati district. They recovered 2.3 kg of methamphetamine tablets estimated to be worth Rs 1.80 crore. The seized substances and suspects have been handed over to local police for investigation under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
