Security incidents reported at Chilean airport and in Ecuador

In Puerto Montt, Chile, a passenger at El Tepual International Airport was detained after making joking comments about an explosive device in his belongings. The remarks triggered immediate security protocols by the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), leading to a full evacuation of the terminal. Specialized police units (GOPE) inspected the facilities and luggage, ultimately finding no danger. The individual was handed over to the Public Ministry.

In Macas, Ecuador, police intervened with a public bus driver suspected of driving under the influence. Following a citizen alert, officers attempted to stop the vehicle near the land terminal. The driver attempted to flee on foot, leading to a pursuit where officers fired a shot to the side. The man eventually surrendered to authorities. The vehicle was towed, and passengers were evacuated from the bus.
