Honduras and Mexico implement food security and social assistance measures

In Honduras, President Nasry Asfura met with Lena Savelli, the regional director for the World Food Programme (WFP) for Latin America and the Caribbean, to coordinate responses to drought conditions caused by El Niño. The meeting focused on strengthening food security for families in the Dry Corridor, where crop losses have impacted livelihoods.

In Mexico, various regional social assistance programs are distributing food aid to vulnerable populations. In Puebla, the State System for Integral Family Development (SEDIF) delivered over 1,700 food baskets to elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and children. In Tamaulipas, the state DIF distributed more than 63,000 food baskets across 43 municipalities, targeting indigenous populations, the elderly, and those living below the poverty line.

Additionally, in Querétaro, the state DIF participated in the 16th 'Carrera de la Esperanza' (Race of Hope), a charity event intended to raise funds for approximately 800 children and adolescents residing in 15 Social Assistance Centers.
