Seeman condemns arrest of NTK leader in Tamil Nadu

Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman has accused the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government of political vendetta following the arrest of M. Karthika, the party’s state women's wing official and former Dharapuram by-election candidate. Karthika and several others, including her husband, were arrested in connection with allegations involving the obstruction of police and campaigning during the Dharapuram by-election.

Seeman characterized the arrests as the “height of fascism” and alleged that the police are being used for political revenge. In response, leaders from various opposition parties, including the DMK, AIADMK, PMK, CPI, and DMDK, have condemned the move and demanded the immediate release of the NTK members.

DMK President M.K. Stalin defended his party's past criticisms of Karthika as ideological debates rather than attempts to silence her, warning police against becoming accomplices in political vendettas. Additionally, DMDK General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth criticized the circumstances of the arrest, noting that Karthika was not permitted to change out of her nightdress before being taken into custody.
