Sefa seizes large beer shipments in Pará due to tax irregularities
The Pará State Department of Finance (Sefa) has conducted major seizures of beer shipments across the state following inspections that revealed tax irregularities.
In Novo Progresso, authorities seized 120,120 cans of beer valued at R$ 336,336.00. The shipment, traveling from Maceió, Alagoas, to Santarém, was found to have underpaid the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS). The declared value per can was only approximately 14.5% of the established final weighted average consumer price. This resulted in a seizure and deposit term totaling R$ 136,854.94 in taxes and fines.
In Conceição do Araguaia, Sefa seized over 30,000 bottles of beer, valued at R$ 450,477.70. This cargo, also traveling from Maceió to Redenção, showed insufficient ICMS collection via tax substitution. The irregularity led to a fine and tax assessment exceeding R$ 92,000.
Additionally, in Palestina do Pará, inspectors seized over 47 tons of mineral products. The shipment, destined for a mining company in Parauapebas, was accompanied by documentation claiming the load was a one-kilogram soil sample for analysis, which was found to be inconsistent with the actual quantity transported.
