Seferihisar Deputy Mayor Gökhan Pehlivan Detained in Corruption Probe

Seferihisar Deputy Mayor İbrahim Gökhan Pehlivan was arrested by the İzmir Public Prosecutor's Office as part of an investigation into the Seferihisar municipality. The operation also detained seven other individuals, including CHP Malatya MP Veli Ağbaba's adviser Özlem Akyılmaz and several construction firm executives, raising the total number of arrests to eight.

Seferihisar Mayor İsmail Yetişkin responded, emphasizing the presumption of innocence and calling for fair, transparent judicial proceedings. He stressed that detention is not a final penalty and reiterated confidence in the rule of law and the forthcoming trial process.
