Taşköprü Culture and Garlic Festival concludes in Turkey
The 36th International Taşköprü Culture and Garlic Festival in Kastamonu, Turkey, concluded with diverse cultural and musical events.
A highlight of the festival was the "Garlic Beauty" contest, where Marian Penagos from Colombia was crowned the winner. Participants from Turkey, Colombia, South Korea, Russia, North Macedonia, and Northern Cyprus competed, showcasing traditional clothing and dances. The jury, which included actress Aliye Uzunatağan, evaluated contestants on aesthetics, facial expressions, and authentic attire. Uzunatağan was also named the festival queen.
The six-day festival ended with a massive final concert attended by approximately 40,000 people. Turkish pop artists Bengü and Edis performed for the crowd. During the event, local officials presented the performers with garlic crowns, a symbol of the region. The concert also featured a marriage proposal from a young man to his girlfriend in front of the large audience.
