Sega tests multiplayer for Crazy Taxi: World Tour
Sega recently conducted an online multiplayer network test for 'Crazy Taxi: World Tour', a new installment in the classic driving series. While the game is not scheduled for release until 2027, the test provided a preview of its expanded multiplayer focus.
The test featured two primary game modes. 'Pickup Race' functions as a checkpoint-style race where players must pick up and drop off passengers as quickly as possible to compete. The second mode, 'Cops’n Cabbies', involves a cat-and-mouse dynamic where taxi teams attempt to complete a set number of fares while evading police players who aim to ram them.
Gameplay customization allows players to select from four original drivers and six different cars. These vehicles vary in attributes such as speed, passenger capacity, and ramming power, and can be equipped with buffs like increased nitro gain during drifts. Although the test was limited, it indicates a significant shift toward multiplayer experiences for the franchise.
