SEGAS approves athlete categories for the 2026 season

The Board of Directors of the Hellenic Amateur Athletic Association (SEGAS) has approved the planning categories for the upcoming 2026 athletic season. The new structure includes a distinguished category and four subsequent tiers for athletes who excelled in top-tier competitions with the national team in 2026. Additionally, the federation announced pre-national teams for the U23, U20, and U18 levels, along with a support category.

Approximately 300 members will fall under the federation’s support, including 75 athletes in the five primary categories. The plan also includes a winter indoor track and field program for age groups K14 through senior levels, utilizing indoor facilities in cities such as Paiania, Thessaloniki, Patras, Serres, Heraklion, Rhodes, and Ierapetra.

The board also approved the U20 Panhellenic Championship, which will include U18 athletes to boost competitive motivation ahead of the Balkan Games.
