Segura EP launches platform to map gender violence in Guayaquil

Segura EP officially launched the Analytical Visualizer of the Cantonal Statistical Registry of Domestic and Gender Violence (RECCVIM) on 29 July at the Centro Cultural Olmedo in Guayaquil. The Phase I tool consolidates and maps data on services provided to victims, showing that from 15 May 2025 the system recorded 7,040 attendances for 1,300 victims, with psychological abuse most prevalent and the 30‑35 age group most affected. About 14 % of cases required referral to other institutions, and the area known as AGA 2 (including Pascuales, Montebello and Bastión Popular) held the highest concentration of records.

General manager Alex Anchundia highlighted the platform’s role in improving decision‑making, institutional transparency and evidence‑based public‑policy formulation. Municipal councillors, including Emily Vera, and legal expert Barbara Villagómez attended, stressing the need for precise risk assessments and protocols to avoid revictimisation. The first phase also reported 19,000 citizens sensitised and 18,619 specialised attendances through the Centres for Equality and Justice, with plans to expand the system to other municipal districts and create a cantonal observatory on gender violence.
