Ecuador gender equality and violence prevention initiatives
Overview
In Guayaquil, Segura EP launched the Analytical Visualizer of the Cantonal Statistical Registry of Domestic and Gender Violence (RECCVIM). This Phase I tool maps data regarding services provided to victims, noting that since 15 May 2025, the system recorded 7,040 attendances for 1,300 victims. General manager Alex Anchundia stated the platform aims to improve “decision-making, institutional transparency and evidence-based public-policy formulation.”
Expanding to the national level, Ecuador presented the National Agenda for Gender Equality (ANIG) 2025–2029 to the country’s justice system authorities. Developed through a participatory process involving women and LGBTI+ individuals, the Agenda is designed as a public policy instrument to guarantee rights, improve access to justice, and strengthen state responses to discrimination and violence.
