Seiko to release limited-edition panda-themed chronographs
Seiko has announced the production of two limited-edition chronographs inspired by its 2024 Power Design Project concept, ‘A Watch Exclusively for Panda Lovers’. Designed by Kiyotaka Sakai, who also works on the Grand Seiko Evolution 9 Collection, the watches take the traditional ‘panda dial’ watch terminology literally by incorporating visual elements of an actual panda.
The design features a bullhead layout with stainless steel cushion-shaped cases (43mm diameter). The chronograph pushers are shaped like panda ears, the subdials mimic eye patches, and the hands are modeled after bamboo leaves. A unique ‘SASAMETER’ replaces the standard tachymeter, referencing ‘sasa’, the Japanese word for bamboo.
Two colorways will be released on November 7, 2026: a white-and-black model (HHK001) limited to 3,000 pieces, and a pink-and-grey model (HHK002) inspired by baby pandas, limited to 2,000 pieces. Both models are priced at 83,600 yen.
