South America experiences surge in seismic and volcanic activity

South America is experiencing a period of heightened geological activity, including multiple earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

In Peru, several seismic events were recorded, including a magnitude 5.2 earthquake in the Amazonas region near Santa María de Nieva. In Chile, a magnitude 4.8 earthquake occurred in the Metropolitan Region near Farellones, while the Nevados de Chillán volcano produced an eruptive pulse that sent a 380-meter column of pyroclastic material into the air. Authorities have maintained a yellow technical alert for the volcano.

Colombia has also reported significant activity, with multiple earthquakes in the Chocó region, including a magnitude 4.6 event near Istmina. Additionally, seismic activity has been noted along the border between Ecuador and Peru, with a magnitude 5.5 earthquake felt in several Ecuadorian provinces including Loja and Cuenca.

In Venezuela, Funvisis reported frequent seismic activity, noting dozens of tremors across the country's northern and western regions over recent days.
