Seismic upgrades start for Brescia school and Imperia palace

The municipal council in Brescia approved the executive project to retrofit the Chizzolini kindergarten, a 1976‑built facility that also houses a senior centre and a volunteer association. The €1.3 million renovation, plus €114 429 for soil remediation, will be carried out in two phases during the summer of 2027 and 2028, with preparatory works completed before the 2026/27 school year. The seismic upgrade will use external dissipative steel bracing, a technique chosen to avoid altering existing structures.

In Imperia, works have begun on the historic provincial building in Piazza Roma. The first €1 million lot covers roof replacement, façade restoration and ground‑floor wall consolidation, while the total programme costs €2.649 million. Contractor Co.Ge.Vi. srl will finish the lot by 14 April 2027. Province president Claudio Scajola said, "These are substantial interventions that refurbish a historic building." The project aims to enhance seismic safety and modernise the building that hosts regional employment offices and other public services.
