Sejingkat Bridge to open to public on October 5

The Sejingkat Bridge is scheduled to open to road users at 10:00 am on October 5, 2026, following a pre-opening ceremony. The project, managed by the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak, aims to strengthen the road network and improve connectivity between Kuching, Sejingkat, and Tanjung Bako.

The dual two-lane bridge measures 1,281.2 metres in total length and was constructed according to JKR R5 standards. The main structure features a cable-stayed design with three spans measuring 200, 400, and 200 metres, respectively. Additionally, the project includes six prestressed concrete T-girder spans of 40 metres each on the Tanjung Bako and Sejingkat sides.

As traffic demand grows in the Kuching area, the bridge is expected to provide a vital alternative route and improve overall traffic flow. JKR Sarawak has advised motorists to observe all posted speed limits, road signs, and safety instructions when using the new facility.
